Title: Hear Me Out: Mediation & Restorative Justice in Action
Description: This interactive workshop introduces participants to the core principles of mediation and restorative justice through a blend of engaging activities designed to build both understanding and practical skills. The first part focuses on mediation, beginning with a skit that depicts a common conflict scenario, such as a college roommate disagreement. This allows attendees to see mediation in action and observe its key elements. A guided discussion follows, helping participants clarify mediation’s goals, including facilitating dialogue, identifying mutual interests, and finding collaborative solutions. The second part shifts to restorative justice, featuring a live Four Corners exercise where participants physically respond to reflective statements about justice, harm, and accountability. This activity invites thoughtful reflection and respectful sharing of diverse perspectives in a supportive environment. Together, these activities create a dynamic space for dialogue, helping students explore effective conflict resolution tools and consider their role in promoting mediation and restorative justice responsibility within their communities.
